Wishek Girl Wins Savings Bond in Drawing Contest

Gwendelyn Finck, daughter of Amanda and Travis Finck of Wishek, recently won a drawing contest sponsored by the North Dakota Jump$tart Coalition. Gwendelyn attended Marketplace for Kids and stopped at the Jump$tart to participate in its contest, which asked children to draw a picture of something for which they were willing to save money.

Money, Money, Money – Are You Financially Fit?

Nearly two-thirds of American workers have no retirement savings account to provide for long term needs such as future retirement living and medical expenses. At the same time, American’s rate of personal savings keeps dropping: personal savings declined from about 10% of disposable income in the early 1980s to 1.8% in 2004. In 2005, the savings rate was negative for the first time since the Great Depression.
