Two teachers going to Washington DC

The North Dakota Jump$tart Coalition recently selected two teachers from ND to attend the National Jump$tart Conference in Washington, D. C. November 4-6.  The two teachers attending are Pricilla Roth, of Elgin, ND and Janelle N. Wiedrich, Mt. Pleasant School Dist. 4, of Rolla, ND. Both Teachers submitted applications offered through he ND Jump$tart Coalition website.  Wiedrich and Roth were chosen out of 46 applicants.

The conference held on Capital Hill in Washington, DC is the only national educator conference devoted entirely to personal finance education in the classroom.  Conference Highlights include: Tools, resources, information and support for teaching personal finance in the classroom; A variety of workshops; Peer-to-peer sessions and networking; Saturday Special Dinner Event, featuring comedian and “Funny Money” creator, James Cunningham; Exhibit Hall devoted to Financial Education Resources; 15 professional development hours for Teachers.

States Roth “I am excited to be attending the JumpStart conference in Washington D.C. and hope to acquire valuable resources for my classroom. The sessions offer a variety of topics, so I am sure to gain knowledge as well as ideas”!

“Personal Finance is one of my favorite subjects to teach. I think it is one of the most important classes a student can take. I hope to bring back additional information to share with students and other educators in our state. I welcome the opportunity to increase my knowledge regarding financial literacy and refresh my teaching toolkit” says Wiedrich.

The North Dakota Jump$tart Coalition is comprised of more than 60 organizations, government agencies, financial institutions, corporations, nonprofits, and individuals. Working together we are able to join forces to improve the personal financial literacy of all North Dakotans.

  • Provide for communication and sharing of ideas among agencies, organizations and individuals who have interest in and concern for financial literacy
  • Promote and support financial literacy activities of North Dakota Jump$tart partners
  • Establish a firm organizational structure, funding and budget
